Public Table
What a Public Table is
A Public Table is a hosted conversation.
A small group of people meet online for one hour and talk together. They may not know each other. They may come from different places and backgrounds.
English is simply the language everyone shares. It is not taught, tested, or improved.
There is no lesson and no agenda. The table is facilitated so the conversation can unfold calmly and with care.
You don’t come to practise English. You come to take part in a real conversation.
How the hour unfolds
Opening (about 5 minutes)
Frank (based in France) and Janita (based in South Africa) welcome everyone, explain how the table is held, and set the time boundary.
The table (about 45 minutes)
- Everyone has space to speak. Listening matters as much as talking.
- People speak from their own experience — not to impress, convince, or perform.
- There is no correcting, advising, or teaching.
- The conversation belongs to the group for this hour.
Closing (about 10 minutes)
- The hour ends cleanly.
- There is no summary and no follow-up task. The table closes.
- The value is the shared hour itself.
How the space is held
A few simple agreements keep the table balanced:
- If you come, you take part. Speaking is expected — perfection is not.
- No teaching or correcting. Language is allowed to be imperfect.
- No performing or persuading. This is conversation, not a stage.
- Time matters. Arriving on time helps the group settle together.
These boundaries are there to make the space comfortable and respectful for everyone.
This table is a good fit if you…
- Enjoy thoughtful conversation with people you don’t already know
- Use English in your life and are comfortable speaking it as you are
- Value presence and attention over outcomes
- Appreciate a clearly held hour
It may not be a good fit if you…
- Are looking for lessons, feedback, or correction
- Want measurable progress or clear takeaways
- Prefer to observe rather than participate
- Are mainly “trying something out”
That’s not a judgement — just a matter of fit.
Price
€30 per person
You’re paying for:
- A hosted conversation space

The price helps keep the table intentional.
Choose a tableBefore you book
Ask yourself:
Am I willing to show up, speak, listen, and stay present for a full hour?
If yes, you’re welcome at the table.
If not, this probably isn’t the right space — and that’s fine.
