Rosii spent a week in Jericoacoara.

I fell in love with this place.

When I worked for a Travel Agency many years ago, I always sold holidays to this place, but had never been there myself. It’s really beautiful. Jericoacoara is a small town. The power cables are underground, which is not back in São Paulo. All the streets are unpaved, you walk on the sand like on a beach. The centre only has hotels, restaurants, but convenience stores. It is not commercial. There are beautiful handicrafts to buy, and you can buy delicious ice-cream in many different flavours (including tapioca) from ice cream parlours.

The people who live there are very friendly, welcoming. I spent a week there, Jan 04 – Jan 11. I stayed in naquela pousada. The breakfast was delicious. While eating, I could observe all the birds. One bird had a beautiful red head.

At night, the town is very beautiful. The Christmas decorations were still up. The atmosphere with the restaurants, the handicraft stores…I fell in love.

Jericoacoara has three main options. In the East Side, West Side and Far West. I went to the East and West Side. Each one has some sites to visit. The East Side is more beautiful than the west side. In the West Side, you have beautiful lagoons, the water is crystal clear and not salty. There are hammocks to relax in. You can spend all day there, and eat in a restaurant.  I made a collage of photos, and also made a few videos. One was when we went to the west side because the streets are sandy. To walk there, you can only wear slippers during the day and at night people walk bare foot, when the sand is cooler. And to visit the attractions, we had to drive in a 4×4. But you cannot rent a car by yourself because only the guides know where it is possible to drive. It takes an hour to drive from the West to East Sides. This protects the town centre and keeps it beautiful, but it’s worth it.

On the East Side, there is a Zip-Line, a rollercoaster on a large sandy mountain, water slides. I went on the water slides, and for $R25 (€4) you can slide down 3 times.

What surprised me were the foreigners who visited the town. I even heard some German and French (!!).

It is also fantastic to be able to leave your things on the sand and go into the water. Often, in some beach towns this is not possible. Somebody has to look after them. Somebody even ran after two men and returned their mobile phone, which they had left behind.

One night, I went out to eat a pizza (pineapple with bacon, which was delicious. The crust was very thin.) The woman, who served me, said that J. was once a fishing village and only in 1985 they began to develop it as a tourist centre. It as unusual not to eat the pizza with a knife and fork, instead, she gave us gloves to use.

Jericoacoara is a 3-hour flight from São Paulo, it now has an airport. A 4×4 took us to the hotel, which was an hour from the airport. Driving through the dunes, it was a strange experience. The only way to rent a car is a with a driver because driving is so difficult. One evening, we saw a car stuck in the dunes. A couple explained, a driver costs $R100 (€16), and if your car gets stuck, it costs you $R300 (€48) to get the car unstuck. So, hiring a driver is the cheaper option.

Other food: They prepared shrimps in pineapple. Inside the pineapple are shrimps. Every day, I ate fish, which I love. There are restaurants where you chose the fish you want to eat, and it is freshly prepared for you. When the food arrives at your table, the whole fish is on a serving tray.

I went with one of my “sisters” a very close friend and a retired teacher. She is very generous and supportive. She put me up while I was buying my apartment.

There are hearts everywhere. One day, I will return with my love, whoever he will be. The man of my dreams, when he decides to find and meet me.

You can see a lot of couples and families. I could switch off from work. It was really nice, the day started with a great breakfast, I saw beautiful places. The temperatures were in the low 30s.

The photo with the hammock on the beach is in Caraúbas, a beach located on Lagoa do Paraíso about an hour from the town of Jericoacoara, the water is fresh, crystal clear, calm and totally without waves.
The photo with the sand and the buggies is where there used to be a river and dunes, but due to the lack of rain the river has dried up.
The tours take place in 4×4 cars and the entire route is made up of dunes and beaches with crystal-clear waters.
To visit Mangue Seco, you have to cross by ferry….

The first photo is of Lagoa de Tatajuba, a place with a waterslide, very cool, you pay a fee of R$ 25.00, and you can go down three times, and I went….

I tried to see the sunset almost every day, but unfortunately at the end of the day the clouds blocked out the sun. Everyone says that the sunset in Jericoacoara is beautiful and enchanting, but that wasn’t the case this time. This is one of the images I got
I loved this photo, Barbara a girl in the walking group managed to capture my jump in the air.
The fifth photo is the trail that leads to Pedra Furada, a must-see for tourists. It takes 50 minutes to walk there and 50 minutes to walk back, but it’s well worth it….
