Dear reader,

I was working at my desk when my phone pinged.

Lunch?

Sure, why not? I replied.

I’ve been seeing a lot of Ethan lately. He’s a project manager somewhere in our company. Our work paths don’t really cross, so, I’m not really sure why he wanted a coffee a couple of weeks ago. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not looking to date right now, but he’s a nice guy to hang out with.

Hey Allie, he said, as we met at the food truck. How are things?

Fine, I replied, smiling at José as he gave me my regular order.

Don’t you get tired of eating the same thing? Asked Ethan.

Noooo way! Anyway, this is just fuel to get me through the afternoon. I replied. And I
think José does change it a little every now and then. It works for me.

Yeah, just like the Barista in the Brida Café. He served up some really cool cookies this week.

Variety adds to the spice of life, I guess, I said.

Hey, can I ask you a question? Said Ethan.

Oh, oh, I thought. He’s not getting personal now, is he?

Sure, I said.

Do you multitask? I mean, do two things at once?

Of course, I do, I replied. Why the question?

Oh, it’s one of the topics being discussed in the Brida community. It’s actually quite interesting to see how other people in other cultures deal with everyday life.

Uh uh, I replied.

What else are you guys talking about?

I didn’t want Ethan to get too close, so I needed to make conversation. He took the bait.

Well, a couple went to Porto and wrote an article about that. Then, one guy, told the story about his school reunion and that prompted somebody else to ask about other school experiences. And you know what one girl wrote?

Err, no, sorry, I left my crystal ball at home this morning.

Ethan smiled. Sorry, yeah, kinda dumb question. Well, she used to go to school in France, and now she goes to school in Seoul, and there are like, huge differences in attitude.

Uh uh, I said. Why is this relevant to me?

Just something to talk about, you know, get a different perspective on things. No person is an island.

My phone pinged.

Hey Ethan, really nice chatting with you, but need to get back to the grindstone. I have a meeting in 5 minutes.

OK, see you around?

Sure, I said.
.

This week's menu. And some leftovers too!
