Hello

Dear reader,

I hope you are well.

This week, the Brida Community took a giant leap east. We now officially have a community member in Seoul, South Korea. It means that the geographical distance of our community stretches from Campo Grande in Western Brazil, Manaus in the North and Curitiba in the South, across the Atlantic to Europe. We find the centre of all activities is in the Alsace region of France. We continue to Southern Germany in Mannheim and near Baden-Baden, and drive to Northern Germany in Kassel. Then, we jump into the Eastern Mediterranean to Turkey. From there, we continue to Seoul.

Some of you know the story of Nathalie and Cléa, who moved from a village of 1000 inhabitants here in France to Seoul, a city of 18 million. You can read the article in the Brida Journal here. Last Thursday, in the Thursday Morning, Get Together, Nathalie and I spent a fantastic 90 minutes discussing her first experiences. It laid the foundation for more to come. All with your involvement. There will be two sets of stories. Nathalie’s perspective and, with Impressions of a Teenager, Cléa will provide her own unique view of her life in Seoul. All will be revealed in Brida Conversations.

I had a video meeting, on Friday, with Igor in Curitiba, Brazil. It was another one of these landmark events. As part of a comprehensive training plan for him, with specific goals and projects, we will be able to learn a lot about modern communication. We will start in November in the Flagship, Tuesday Get Together. He will give us advice on to use WhatsApp better.

I had two video meetings this week to promote the Brida project. One was in Mumbai in India, and one was in Accra in Ghana in Western Africa. Maybe something will come of them, maybe not. Time will tell.

Finally, one important change. Daylight Saving Time (DST)will end in Europe next weekend. Interestingly, all the other countries in the community do not observe DST. That means your time slots will change, and, in some cases, we might even need to find new time slots. I will contact you individually.

But I also do have some extremely sad news. Our member, Sylvie, has been taken seriously ill and will need several months to fight and recover from a common and horrible illness. For me, it is a stark reminder of the fragility of life. I think I speak on behalf of everybody to wish her well, together with the best and speedy recovery. You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Best regards

Frank

Spring has sprung for Ismar in Campo Grande in Southwestern Brazil. This leaves Ismar wondering what European autumns and winters are like. What do we do? For those in Germany, how would you describe Neuer Wein & Zwiebelkuchen, The Christmas Markets and mulled wine? Plus, whatever else we do here. Let’s send a little winter magic across the Atlantic.

Cheers!
