Hello

Dear reader,

I hope you are well.

Sometimes things don't go to plan because other things happen unexpectedly. But it is nice to know that community members can talk with each other, even if I am late. My train from Strasbourg was delayed last Tuesday. As a result, Julia met Sebastian and Ismar for the first time at the Tuesday Get-together without my introduction. Somehow, because of a technological quirk, Sebastian hosted the meeting. And a good job he did, too. I was happy to remain a participant and leave the others to carry on.

On Thursday, Babette in Germany met Monique and Bernard here in France for the first time. Again, the conversation flowed well, and my meeting outline was politely ignored.

Interestingly, what made both meetings easier were the written conversations everybody had been participating in over the previous months. At last, one could put a face to the name, but everybody had already met in a different form.

Manfred took the big leap and published the video of his hometown and such were the spontaneous developments this week, that Maxime's question about academics somehow didn't make the discussion.

Martin enjoyed the feedback on his presentation and had a lot to comment on.

So, really just another normal week in the Brida Community.

Best regards
Frank

And the winner is....

nobel
Traditionally, the Nobel Prizes are awarded in the first week of October. Maxine missed it and would like to know who won which prize. Who can help him?

Can Academics have fun?

Albert-Einstein

Maxime saw his Mathematics teacher racing a tractor around campus last week. Most unusual behaviour, he thought. He wants to know if academics can have fun. What do you think?

On this day, 1989.

It was a simple and careless mistake which changed history. As Germany celebrates 31 years of reunification this Monday, who can remember the momentous events of November 09, 1989? Martin in Kassel would like to know.
