We started with English.
Then technology changed what people could do with language.
Brida began by helping adults become more confident using English.
As AI became remarkably good at translating, correcting, explaining and producing language, we could have defended the old model.
Instead, we became curious about what still mattered.
People still needed other people.
They still needed somewhere to speak, listen, compare experience, disagree, recognise themselves in somebody else and sometimes meet a person they would never normally encounter.
So Brida evolved.
TWO KINDS OF TABLE
Same Brida. Different reasons to sit down.
Some people come because Brida has deliberately matched their experience with four or five very different people. Others come because they want to use their English in a real conversation. Both belong here.

We do not match people because they share an industry. We look for the human experience underneath the work.

THE EUROPEAN FIELD
We went looking.
Not for a mailing list. For people whose work made us stop and look more closely.
Large companies and one-person businesses. Factories, workshops, research institutes, technology companies, cultural organisations, manufacturers, social enterprises and people solving problems most of us never knew existed.
When we looked across the Field, something became clear: very different work often contains recognisably similar human questions.
What happens when reality refuses the plan?
What should remain human when more can be automated?
What do experienced people know that cannot quite be written down?
How much evidence is enough before you act?
How do you change without losing what matters?
How do you know when to keep going — and when to stop?
Why me?
Because something made us curious.
If you arrived here because Brida contacted you, we probably found you while building the European Field.
We do not buy lists and spray invitations across them. Someone in your organisation, or something about the work you do, made us look more closely.
You may be somebody we would like to invite to a Pineapple Table. You may work in an organisation where other people could enjoy a Brida Table. Or we may simply think your work is worth following.

WHAT A TABLE FEELS LIKE
No performance required.
Usually five or six people and a host. Enough difference for surprise, small enough for an actual conversation.
Frank in France or Janita in South Africa holds the room, the question and the rhythm.
No slides. No panel. No requirement to sound clever. Bring what you have actually lived.
English gives us a shared table. It does not require everybody to sound like a native speaker.
THE PINEAPPLE
Some conversations travel further.
Six months into publication, The Pineapple is changing with Brida too — from a community magazine into something more substantial about people, work, ordinary life and the questions that emerge when different worlds meet.
It remains recognisably Brida: human, curious and built from real conversation.
Unfiltered.
Sometimes uncomfortable.
Always human.
The existing Pineapple page remains untouched by this plugin.
The European Conversation Project is new.
Brida isn't.
We do not yet know exactly what this project will become.
We do know why we are building it.
Europe contains far more interesting people than the usual conferences, networks and algorithms allow most of us to encounter. We think a carefully chosen hour with four or five of them can be worth something.
That is what we are testing — one real conversation at a time.
A FEW STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Before you ask.
Is this English teaching?
Brida Tables are for people who want to practise and become more comfortable using English, but there are no traditional lessons. In Pineapple Tables, English is simply the shared medium for the conversation.
Do I need perfect English?
No. You need enough English to take part in a real conversation and the willingness to keep going when a sentence is not perfect.
Is a Pineapple Table networking?
No. There is no pitch round and no promise of leads. We curate people because their different experiences may illuminate the same human question.
Why would my organisation matter?
The organisation is often only where we first notice the person. The actual Table is made of humans, not logos.
Will what I say be published?
A Table is not automatically publication material. Conversation comes first; publication is a separate decision.
How much is a Pineapple Table?
A public Pineapple Table chair is €50. One person occupies the chair for one hosted conversation.
