Hello dear reader,
I do have to warn you here. If you love drinking Coke, then you might want to stop right here. Personally, I hate the stuff. But it’s been around for an awfully long time, so people must enjoy drinking it. However, it does say something about the composition of the drink when I can share six things in the household that you can clean with cola.
If you have a few sips of cola left in the bottle or can, I wouldn’t throw them away. It’s great for cleaning. Yes, you read that right. That sweet fizzy drink is a real all-rounder in your household. Here’s what you can clean with it.
Do you have any burnt food residues in pots and pans after cooking that delicious meal? Well, cola can help! Just cover the bottom of the pot with the soft drink and let it simmer on the cooker at low temperature for about 15 minutes. Then, drain the fizzy drink and remove the encrustations with the help of a pot sponge. These should now be quite easy to remove.
I think we can agree, rust stains look absolutely horrible. So, we really want to get rid of them quickly. You can do this quite well with cola, for example, on rusty cutlery or rusty screws. All you have to do is place them in a container filled with cola and let them soak overnight. The following day, the rust can be removed quickly and easily. The reason for this is the phosphoric acid contained in the drink, which attacks the rust. I can’t resist saying it here. If it attacks rust, what can it do to your poor stomach?
You can get rid of annoying limescale in the toilet with a little cola. You pour the contents of a can of cola into the toilet bowl and let it soak in for a few hours, preferably overnight. The next morning, rinse and remove the limescale with a toilet brush.
Did you spill some oil on the floor? Cola is a good way to remove it. All you do is apply a little to the affected area, let it soak in and then rinse with clean water. The stain is gone!
Yes, you read correctly! Grease stains and dirt on the windows can be easily removed with cola. And if your cat loves to push its moist nose on the window, then cola does the trick too. First clean the windows roughly with cola and then wipe again with clear water and a small dash of vinegar. Now the windows shine like new again!
Chewing gum is usually difficult to remove. However, if you put a little cola on it and leave it to work for a few minutes, the sticky gum can be removed quite easily. Wipe it off with a damp cloth and that’s it!
Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Drinking cola and using it as a cleaning help may not be your cup of tea but it has its uses. Maybe my suggestions put you off drinking it and you just want to get rid of your supply of cola. Well, I hope I could help you here.
Until next time,
Love, Iris. xx
